Breaking:- Justice Ariwoola takes over as the CJN, after Justice Muhammed resignation on Sunday
Justice Olukayode Ariwoola is expected to be sworn in as the next Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, following the resignation of Justice Tanko Muhammad. Justice Muhammed is said to resign due to health issues. Recall that Mr Tanko had resigned from his position reportedly on health grounds, according to a statement by the CJN’s Special Assistant on Media, Isah Ahuraka. This is coming on the heels of accusations of corruption and professional misconduct on the CJN by 14 of his brother Justices of the apex court. DAILY NIGERIAN reports that Mr Ariwoola is the next most senior after Justice Mary Odili retired on May 12, after attaining the retirement age of 70. Mr Ariwoola, too, is billed to leave the Judicial service in 2028. Justice Olukayode Ariwoola was appointed a Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria in 2011.
