The oldest Tortoise in Nigeria is said to be located in Egume, Kogi State. According to the family habitating the Tortoise, the tortoise has lived for more than 30years. It is common to keep the likes of dog, cats  bird,etc as pets but this people decided to train a tortoise. According to the woman taking care of the tortoise, the tortoise is a gift to her late elder brother. She willingly decide to keep and take care of it. In addition, the tortoise is now part of the family and eat same food with them.
