Manchester United transfer news: Cristiano Ronaldo latest as Man Utd face Stoke in friendly
Manchester
United's transfer deadline saw the club make Cristiano Ronaldo's transfer from
Juventus official.
As
expected, United announced the signing Ronaldo on a
two-year contract, with the option of an additional year and the 36-year-old
rejoins the club he spent six years with 12 years after leaving for Real Madrid
- the fee is an initial €15million, rising to €23m.
"Manchester
United is a club that has always had a special place in my heart, and I have
been overwhelmed by all the messages I have received since the announcement on
Friday," Ronaldo said.
"I cannot wait to
play at Old Trafford in front of a full stadium and see all the fans
again. I'm looking forward to joining up with the team after the international
games, and I hope we have a very successful season ahead.”
Cristiano Ronaldo also
revealed that legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson was the main reason behind
his sensational return to Old Trafford this summer.
Elsewhere, Daniel
James completed a £25million move to Leeds from United. The Wales international
was Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's first permanent signing
as United manager but he's now left the club after two years amid a
fret of limited playing time.
James, 23, was earmarked for a first-team role this season but reconsidered his future following last week's shock return of Cristiano Ronaldo to Old Trafford - Leeds have held a long-standing interest in the player.
